Word of the day: Gehaktballetjes (Meatballs)
Today we are making a 2.5hr drive to Amsterdam where we meet up w/ our friends Jordan and Julia!! We have known both of them since college so it will be nice to catch up, and how cool to do so in Europe! Plus, it is actually was a decent day for being the end of February, so we were excited to not worry about umbrellas!
First up, the Heineken experience tour. It was exactly that... an "experience". You enter a room with the rest in the group and stand in rows on risers, then they show a video and the risers move and things are blown at you. Think of a ride at Universal Studios. *fyi... my opinion, the Guiness tour in Dublin, Ireland is waaaaay better. And I don't even drink beer :)
We then took a canal ride, and then headed to a bar for some drinks and appetizers. We had some meatballs and they were decent but the funny part was that the bartender was so enthusiastic about them, and was your stereotypical Dutchman.
"You like the meatballs, eh??" Definitely funnier if you were there. We kept saying this the rest of the weekend.
Imitation... "you like the meatballs?!?" |
Later that evening we went for fondue and then out Amsterdam style! Julia even took a picture in the Red Light dist, which is forbidden, and upset a few of the girls in the windows who got up and banged on the glass and pointed at her. They were pissed!! It has been said people may come after you and take your camera, but guess we were lucky and got away with it. Fun times!!!
this is not the picture I just mentioned. |
