Day 9 of 364 - Fri 8/12: Time for some Italian... we are hungry!

Phrase of the day:     Een tafel voor een/twee alstublieft.  (A table for one person/two people, please.)

Steve received a recommendation from a co-work for an Italian restaurant here in town, Il Giardino della Mamma, so we decided to try it for our Friday night date night. (But let's not kid ourselves, who else was I going to go out to eat with here in this foreign land?!? ha ha, j/k Steve... You are always the best dinner date!)  In our short time here in the Netherlands we have learned a few helpful tips when it comes to eating out. 1. be ready to be at a restaurant for a loooong time. The Dutch do not eat fast, and I think this holds true in many European countries.  2. They do not serve water, without you asking. And in many cases, you will have to pay for it.  3. It may be best to make reservations, or you will wait in many cases.

In our case, we did not have reservations so we got a drink down the way while we waited. Once in, again we were not disappointed. We probably ordered too much, but it was all good! Oh and... 4. We have heard and read that "doggy-bags" are not often used here, so we need to get better at not over ordering :)

Till next time...
Sarah
