Day 7 of 364 - Wed 8/10: Back to Reality- 1st day on the job in the real Dutch world

Word of the day:     goedemorgen  (Good morning)

Steve started his job today, so that means I am all on my own. Scary!!!
First things up... Alarm went off at 9:30. Wow, spoiled, slacker... I know that is what you are thinking! But it really doesn't make sense for me to get up any earlier.   Hmm, you now say?!?... Well, the cafes here don't open till 10am, so NO coffee till then.   Now you are saying, Wtf, right?!?... Well, I guess the Dutch like to meet for coffee at 10:30. Not sure what they do before then?? (Note to self: find out!)
Also the gym in our complex doesn't open till 3pm on Wednesdays. Again not sure why, but the gym here has odd hours. They are closed during the "off-hours", but that is pretty much when I was hoping to go! Not with everyone else super early (before work hours), or after work hours. (Again note to self: find out if there are other options. Otherwise I may have to find more work during the work day here. ...absolutely not a goal of mine this year ;) )

So on the to do list for the day...
- get coffee (10am) ... Check
- pick up groceries, so we at least have dinner tonight, and Steve requested Coke light and fruit ... Check      
(note to self: need to work on grocery shopping here, or it may be a loooong year ;) )
- sit on balcony to get sun, enjoy latte and blog ... Check!!!
- rearrange furniture so is more to our comfort level... Check!
still to do as of 3pm...
- add anything else to the missing from the apt list
- workout w/ Steve when he gets home (Note: I have not been good at all about the gym since getting back from Mexico, and that was the beginning of May --- yikes bc it is now Aug. Then again is pretty typical Summer Sarah!)

Btw... I have been to the grocery store (Albert Heijn) here MORE times in this first week than I was in the past 2 months back in the states. I really need to get to know the food here. Also, I guess work really does follow me everywhere. ha ha!  Can't wait for our shipped box to arrive! It has a few goodies in it that should help :) but probably have to wait another week :(
